About Us
Great wine. Great value. No nonsense.
Winebulance was created by Wight Wines, an independent wine merchant based on the Isle of Wight. Between us, we've spent decades buying, selling and, most importantly, drinking wine β with a particular passion for finding bottles that deliver far more than their price tag suggests.
Our philosophy is pretty simple:
"Would we drink it ourselves?"
If the answer is yes, it has a chance of making it into the Winebulance range. If the answer is no, you won't find it here.
We taste, search, argue, debate and occasionally disagree (it happens!), but ultimately every wine has to earn its place. We're looking for wines that are interesting, enjoyable, reliable and great value for money β whether you're after something for a Tuesday night, a dinner party, or simply a bottle to open because it's been a long day.
Wine shouldn't be intimidating, overly complicated or reserved for people who know their Merlot from their Malbec. It should be enjoyable.
That's what Winebulance is all about.

Why Winebulance?
Meet the team
Matt has been part of the Island wine trade for over 25 years, working closely with restaurants, hotels, bars and other hospitality businesses across the Isle of Wight.
With a pretty good idea of what makes a wine work β and an even better idea of what makes a wine good value β Matt is always on the lookout for those bottles that make you think:
βBlimeyβ¦ thatβs good for the money!β
He brings a wealth of experience to the buying process, along with a genuine enthusiasm for discovering new wines and sharing them with customers. In short, if there's a hidden gem out there, Matt can sniff it out.
Mike has over 30 years of experience in the wine trade, spanning both retail and wholesale.
Before joining Wight Wines, Mike spent nine years running multiple sites for Threshers, giving him extensive experience of the wine business from the shop floor through to large-scale operations.
These days, Mike keeps the wheels turning behind the scenes, making sure the business runs smoothly and that the wine gets where it needs to go.

βThe best wine is the wine you enjoy.β
